We wish to make the hall a focal point for local musicians – both as a venue for concerts and a hub for coaching groups and individuals. We need to build a sound system to support the performing arts.
About this cause
We are in the process of taking over operation and ownership of the village Hall in Dunning from the local authority and transferring it to the local community. We will have control of the booking/operations and full lease/ownership by the end of 2025. We have a programme of renovation underway and are adding new features to the hall to make it more accessible. We are supporting a new childcare business to attract younger families to the area, and establishing a programme of events and concerts to appeal to a wide range of ages. Our aim is to give Dunning back its soul by creating an attractive place for people to get together.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A sound system will help us in two ways. It will provide a venue for people of all ages to enjoy music/dance/theatre events, and the performing arts. It will also provide a platform for anyone keen to learn and practice performance skills in a safe and familiar environment. The fringe benefit will be to encourage local musicians to perform and develop their own craft–we're hoping that Dunning will become a renowned music hub. Investing in sound equipment would enhance the hall's suitability for cultural and social events (for strongly desired activities such as music, theatre, ceilidhs/dances and film nights), as well as for improving presentations by community groups, making it a more attractive and versatile venue for the village population.
